What is the CCNSG Safety Passport?

The CCNSG Safety Passport is a health and safety training scheme for people who work on engineering construction, manufacturing and process sites. It was set up by the Client/Contractor National Safety Group so that everyone working on these sites has a shared, recognised standard of safety training. The course is awarded by the ECITB, the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board.

Many site owners and principal contractors ask for a valid CCNSG Safety Passport before letting contractors on site. The two-day course is the most popular route to getting one.

Who needs it?

The passport suits anyone working on engineering construction and process sites, including:

  • Engineers, technicians and fitters
  • Electricians, welders and mechanical trades
  • Scaffolders, labourers and maintenance contractors
  • Supervisors and site visitors who need site access

If you’re not sure whether your site requires it, ask your employer or the site’s principal contractor.

Renewing your passport

Your card is valid for three years. To renew it, you take a one-day renewal course within three months of the expiry date. Supervisors can also add a day of CCNSG Leading a Team Safely training. Ask Knight Learning about both when you get in touch.
